Review
It seems the done thing recently for phone companies to offer incentives to get people to use their network. For example, Orange has had 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Wednesday for quite a while now. O2 on the other hand has always offered priority tickets for live shows, as O2 owns a lot of concert venues around the UK (O2 Arenas) this has not been a problem for them. However, priority tickets wasn’t for everyone. With this in mind, ‘O2 Priority Moments’ was created.
O2 Priority Moments is a downloadable app for a number of platforms, whilst the UI may vary between devices, the principle behind the app is the same. You will of course, need to be an O2 customer in order to receive the exclusive offers.
O2 Priority Moments works by determining your location and providing you with a selection of offers and vouchers relevant to your location. You are able to redeem these vouchers on your phone and then use them at participating venues.
You are initially able to determine what type of offers you are interested in, hiding those which are of no interest. After that, your location is discovered and a list of relevant offers will now show under your ‘Moments’ tab. Tap a ‘Moment’ to get more information about it, such as where you can redeem this offer, any further offer details and importantly the terms and conditions.
This app has seen some mixed reviews, the majority of those leaving negative reviews do so because of the quality of the offers. Unfortunately, as this is a location based offer system, you probably aren’t going to get the best deals if you live in a small village… those nearby large cities will probably receive the best offers. However O2′s ad campaign has shown some rather impressive offers such as half price cinema tickets – an offer for which not everyone is eligible.
Looking at the offers I had available to me, I wasn’t too displeased. For example, the Domino’s Pizza voucher is for £10 off a £25 spend, a quick search online reveals a 20% off voucher for a spend of £25 or over (The equivalent of £5 off) – so there is some value to this app.
Some notable offers include:
- 50% off 1x ODEON adult ticket
- Free Doughsticks on arrival at Zizzi
- 20% off all Nike products at JJB
- Free Prosecco on arrival at Zizzi (18+)
Final Thoughts
The app itself provides a good overall experience and acts as a quick and easy medium to access these vouchers. The only problem is that the vouchers are location dependent, which is both a good and a bad thing and has left some users of the app a little annoyed at the lack of quality offers.
However, it is still worth downloading, even if it is just to see what vouchers are available to you – you never know, you might end up saving some money!
